One of the natural attractions in the Bahamas is Blue Lagoon Island, also known by its official name Salt Cay. Rich in local culture Blue Lagoon has been an interesting part of The Bahamas’ history for centuries. Located just three miles from Nassau, it is now the home of the dolphins and sea lions of Dolphin Encounters where visitors can swim and experience Bahamas animal life first-hand and it is still owned by a local family. This incredibly beautiful island has had a fascinating past and continues to be the number one attraction in Nassau for activities to do with families and a wonderfully entertaining and educational cultural excursion suited for children and adults alike.

Blue Lagoon Island Is A True Bahamas Natural Attraction

We offer visitors a memorable Bahamas vacation with a lush landscape and authentic Bahamas culture.

Blue Lagoon Island offers vacationers everything one dreams of when picturing a private tropical island - breathtakingly clear turquoise waters including a lagoon, hundreds of native coconut palm trees, pristine white sandy beaches, beautiful natural vegetation, tropical birds and coral reefs teeming with native species of fish. Although Blue Lagoon Island is in close proximity to Nassau and Paradise Island, it is completely secluded allowing all who visit a true opportunity to relax in a tranquil natural environment. The island has remained virtually untouched maintaining its lush natural beauty - one of the must see attractions during your vacation to the Bahamas.

Dolphin Encounters and Project B.E.A.C.H. received the prestigious Cacique Award, the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism’s highest honour for excellence in tourism. In 1996, Dolphin Encounters was chosen by Universal Studios to help produce the movie ‘Flipper’, starring Paul Hogan and Elijah Wood. In 2001, our dolphins also starred in Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen’s movie, ‘Holiday in the Sun.’ Our sea lions have been the stars of the movie ‘Andre’ and ‘Slappy and The Stinkers’. The animals have been featured in countless television, film and print media all over the world and many international celebrities have swum with them at Blue Lagoon.
